Our founders, William and Joan Clark, started with a simple idea – to use the rent collected from commercial properties held under long-term leases to support monthly dividends to shareholders. Today, as an S&P 500 company, we continue to maintain that same commitment to the dividend.
Why Get Dividends from Realty Income?
- Monthly dividends. Realty Income has paid 560 consecutive monthly cash dividends. The predictability of our business model’s underlying revenue stream affords us the ability to deliver monthly dividend payments to shareholders, rather than quarterly.
- Growth. Since our public listing in 1994, our dividend has grown at a compound average annual growth rate of approximately 4.7%. We have increased our cash dividend for 78 consecutive quarters, equating to 181.3% dividend growth.
- Stability. Dividend income we provide to our shareholders tends to be reliable since it is supported by long-term leases with tenants we have determined can be relied upon to make lease payments. Throughout our operating history, we have never decreased the amount of our regular monthly dividend payment.
