What I Do

As an Associate Vice President and Senior Legal Counsel in the legal department, I work with the legal aspects of owning a large portfolio of commercial real estate, as well as provide any legal assistance that may be required when acquiring new properties. One of the important areas where my expertise is required is in the negotiation and drafting of the long-term leases that support the payment of monthly dividends to our shareholders.

Background

Prior to joining Realty Income in 2004, I served as general counsel and as an executive officer for Grosvenor Industries, a San Diego-based real estate development company. In my capacity as general counsel, I had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of real estate projects including development from the ground up, as well as various issues surrounding the ownership and operation of shopping centers, apartments, condominiums and industrial warehouses. During my thirteen years at that firm, I successfully negotiated leases with a variety of brand name tenants. Prior to joining Grosvenor Industries in 1991, I worked at two different law firms that specialized in corporate and real estate transactions. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance, with a real estate emphasis, and received a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1984.

Other Interests

I enjoy golf, my dogs, the outdoors and being with friends. However, my highest priority is having free time to spend with my wife and our two children.
