Real Estate Acquisitions
My primary responsibility is to uncover new property investment opportunities. In this capacity I work directly with existing tenant groups, private equity firms and other corporations in various industries to assess their real estate and capital needs. I also work with investment banks and various real estate brokerage firms in an advisory role to assess current market conditions and provide sale-leaseback structures for their clients who are looking to turn the real estate they may own into cash that can be used for other purposes.
What I enjoy most about what I do is the ability to continue to learn about new companies and industries and to conceive sale-leaseback transactions that can be beneficial to companies that might not otherwise have known of this effective capital formation tool.
I originally joined Realty Income in 1999 and worked in a variety of capacities, including as an acquisitions director and real estate portfolio manager. I left the company in 2006 to work in the franchise finance group at Merrill Lynch Capital. Subsequent to that, I joined another net-lease financing firm in 2008 as a senior acquisitions director until 2010, when I rejoined Realty Income as an Associate Vice President and Director of Acquisitions. I was promoted to my current role as a Vice President and Director of Acquisitions in 2011. Through my roles in other companies, I continued to learn more about other financing alternatives and the advantages and disadvantages of each of these various financing methods. An area in which I have developed special expertise is in the financing of the gas and convenience store industry, which is helpful to our investment in this area. I graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a BA in Philosophy and continued studies at UCSD with a focus on Finance.
