Realty Income: New York Stock Exchange Symbol 'O'

Where Does Realty Income Fit?

Overview:

Realty Income is just one of many dividend paying companies. In this section, we'll help you understand some of the basic differences between dividends from Realty Income and dividends from other companies. In a nutshell, we are one of only a handful of public companies to pay dividends monthly, rather than quarterly, which can be a great benefit to shareholders who need monthly income. And, our dividends are generated from real estate assets, which is different from many other companies that generate dividends via the profits from selling products and/or services.

A key number to pay attention to for real estate companies is "funds from operations," or FFO, which is an additional indicator of a real estate company's ability to pay dividends.
