At Realty Income, we believe that giving back to our community is an extension of our mission to improve the lives of our shareholders, our employees, and their families. As such, our Corporate Responsibility Program reflects our strong commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen and taking an active role in the betterment of the communities in which our employees and shareholders live and work. Our program incorporates activities that include civic involvement, charitable giving, and sustainable business practices. Our non-profit partnerships have resulted in 600 employee volunteer hours, employee and corporate donations to fund local affordable housing, educations services to at-risk youth, funding local foodbanks, and toys for under-served children. We are proud of the efforts we have made to date and look forward to continuing to strengthen our impact as part of the successful operations of The Monthly Dividend Company®.

Community Partnerships

Habitat for Humanity®

San Diego Habitat for Humanity Inc. (SDHFH), the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a nonprofit organization that builds simple, decent and affordable homes for ownership by local families in need.

Realty Income’s partnership with San Diego Habitat for Humanity included a donation of $125,000 and the hard work of 120 employee volunteers who helped install siding, roofing, permeable pavers, paint, plant landscaping, and build fencing at the final two homes of Habitat’s Foundation Lane Community in El Cajon, CA.

“Through our Corporate Responsibility Program, we are pleased to work with San Diego Habitat for Humanity and honored to support the partner families,” said John P. Case, CEO of Realty Income. “We have had a significant presence in San Diego County since our company’s founding in 1969 and it is important to us to continue to impact our local community positively.”

North County Community Services

North County Community Services is committed to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families by providing programs that educate young children, support working families, feed the hungry and ultimately create opportunities to improve the quality of life for residents in North San Diego County.

Realty Income partnered with NCCS to host a Thanksgiving Food Drive for canned goods, non-perishable food items, and monetary donations. All employee contributions were matched by the company and the food drive provided approximately 9,000 meals to North County San Diego families in need through the San Diego Food Bank.

The company also partnered with NCCS to host a Giving Tree Holiday Wish Drive to grant 100 wishes to under-served children in North County San Diego. Employees selected a wish ornament with specific information about a child to assist in providing that child with their wish for the holiday. Any monetary donations were matched by Realty Income, providing each child a gift for the holiday season.

Environmental Practices

Our focus on conservationism is demonstrated by how we manage our day-to-day activities at our corporate headquarters. At our headquarters, we promote energy efficiency and encourage practices such as:

  • Powering down office equipment at the end of the day,
  • Implementing file-sharing technology and automatic “duplex mode” to limit paper use
  • Adopting an electronic approval system
  • Carpooling to our headquarters

With respect to recycling and reuse practices, we encourage the use of recycled products and the recycling of materials during our operations. Cell phones, wireless devices and office equipment are recycled or donated whenever possible.

In addition, our headquarters was constructed according to the State of California energy efficiency standards (specifically following California Green Building Standards Code and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations), with features such as an automatic lighting control system with light-harvesting technology, a Building Management System that monitors and controls energy use, an energy-efficient PVC roof and heating and cooling system, and drought-tolerant landscaping with recycled materials.

The properties in our portfolio are net leased to our tenants who are responsible for maintaining the buildings and are in control of their energy usage and environmental sustainability practices. We remain active in working with our tenants to promote environmental responsibility at the properties we own.
