Vice President, Senior Legal Counsel
As Vice President and Senior Legal Counsel, Mr. Burchett works as the lead attorney on all aspects of acquiring commercial real estate, in both portfolio transactions and single property acquisitions. In addition, he works with the Portfolio Management department to provide legal counsel on all issues that may arise in the ownership of commercial real estate, including the negotiation and drafting of long-term leases, purchase and sale transactions, condemnations and other property related issues.
Prior to joining Realty Income in 2004, Mr. Burchett served as General Counsel and as an Executive Officer for Grosvenor Industries, a San Diego-based real estate development company. In his capacity as General Counsel, Mr. Burchett had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of real estate projects including development from the ground up, as well as various issues surrounding the ownership and operation of shopping centers, apartments, condominiums and industrial warehouses. During his thirteen years at that firm, Mr. Burchett successfully negotiated leases with a variety of brand name tenants. Prior to joining Grosvenor Industries in 1991, Mr. Burchett worked at two different law firms that specialized in corporate and real estate transactions.
Mr. Burchett graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance, with a real estate emphasis, and received a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1984.
